Things To Do
The position of Mawgan Porth is ideal - half way between Padstow & Newquay, close enough to enjoy the delights of both without being disturbed by either.
There are many beautiful beaches along this coast so a coastal walk taking in the breathtaking scenery is essential but here we have just a few local attractions - hopefully for wet or dry weather,

accommodating every one and just on our door step.
Sports
As Cornwall is the surfing capital of England you really need to have a go. Kingsurf surfing school on Mawgan porth beach will give you individual, family or group lessons in an atmosphere far more personal than on the major beaches
- and for the more adventurous ( with deeper pockets) Kite Surfing, Power Kiting and Wavesking are just round the corner in Watergate Bay.
you can even get your B.K.S.A instructors qualification.

There is the newrainforest exhibit linking to a beautiful oriental gardens and an even newer Madagascan walkthrough exhibit taken from the African Savanna. - and don't miss the meerkats. The animals at this zoo always seem to be active & interested.

Whilst a tourist attraction in Cornwall, these people do much to care for sick and injured owls. Whilst there are also Meerkats and Shetland ponies the prime atraction has to be the owl collection. Try and get there to coincide with none of their formative tours & you may get the chance to "fly" an owlk in the falconry ring afterwards .

Learn every thing that you ever wanted to know out about the lobster and what they do all day.

When an an affiliated Cornish Fisherman catches a "berried" lobster (that is one with eggs) he loans the lobster to the hatchery, who harvest the eggs, hatch all of them, thus avoiding natural wastage, and when the youngsters are self sufficient return thems to the cornish coast and the now unburdened lobster to the fisherman. You can adopt one if you want.

Go Karting
St Eval
For those days away from the beach , Cornwall has many alternative attractions to keep you entertained. For big kids there are 4-wheel bike centres or for burning some serious rubber try Go-karting at St Eval with karts that can hit 70 mph on the adults circuit (and a bit more limited for the youngsters !.
They can cater for all age groups and have four circuits, spectator's area and arrive and drive sessions.

Bike Riding
& Walking
Why not walk or cycle around some of Cornwall's easy routes including "The Camel Trail" and "Goss Moor" - flat solid surfaces with cycle hire shops positioned nearby.
Camel Trail
The camel trail has 18 miles of multi use routes available and is open not only to cyclists but walkers but and horse riders. The trail runs next to the river Camel estuary through hidden woodlands and otherwise unreachable countryside. Originally a railway line the gentle gradient has been converted in to a multi-use footpath and links Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin.

Goss Moor
There's also a 7 mile circular route that makes it way around Goss moor. Mainly a very level path it gives walkers and cyclists easy access to the moor. This is the largest surviving remains of the Mid-Cornwall moors, with 480 hectares of this unique and wild national nature reserve for you to explorethrough the wetland, heath land or scrubland .

Fishing
If you do it for pleasure or a serious hobby there are many fishing spots around the area with some coarse and fly fishing available locally.

For a day out take a boat from one of the harbours and go out for a pleasure trip or deep sea fishing with some of the best fishermen and high tech boats to catch your own dinner.

Two angling boats - the "Mystique" and "Che Sara Sara both insured for up to 60 miles off shore and MCA licensed are available for a serious days fishing. The modern equipment on board includes a fish finder radar and GPS navigation to give the greatest chance of the catch of the day.
